Today’s solar offers homeowners ‘cheapest…electricity in history’ , confirms IEA
Today’s solar power systems offer end users ‘cheapest…electricity in history’. In most major countries, solar is cheaper than coal and gas.
The International Energy Agency (IEA) details the specifics in its 464 page annual World Energy Outlook 2020 report, published by the IEA. The way forward in terms of global energy use is uncertain with the impact of Coronavirus this year. Even so, the possible pathways the IEA foresees over the next couple of decades show a 43% increase in solar output. This is due in part to a detailed analysis that has solar power coming in at 20-50% cheaper than previously estimated.
