California Solar Electric Cooperative

Service Agreement

Thank you for choosing California Solar Electric Cooperative!

With 20+ years providing renewable energy to the people and businesses in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains, we have seen the industry grow and change with many companies and manufacturers coming and going along the way.

If we installed your PV system, the contract that you signed will contain the terms and conditions of your warranty agreement. If you would like us to service a PV system that was installed by someone else, it will most likely void the workmanship warranty provided by the previous installer.

Below you will find the rates and rules for ongoing service work provided by California Solar Electric Cooperative.

Terms & Conditions

  • All maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and system health checks that are not covered under warranty will be billed to the homeowner.

  • A minimum charge of $225 will be applied, which covers the first hour onsite for service calls within 30 miles of our Grass Valley location.

  • An extra charge will be applied for service calls up to 60 miles away. Any time spent beyond the first hour will be billed at $150 per hour in 15 minute increments.

  • Materials will be billed as needed. If possible, we will gladly prepare an estimate in advance of work to be performed.

Workmanship & Manufacturer’s Warranty

It is oftentimes impossible to determine whether an issue will be covered under the workmanship warranty spelled out in your contract or by the manufacturer until onsite troubleshooting is performed. For this reason, all service calls will be considered billable unless it is determined that the issue is covered under warranty.

Workmanship Warranty

If it is determined that the service issue is covered under the workmanship warranty as defined in your Home Improvement Contract, the service fees will be waived.

This warranty is only applicable to systems that were originally installed by California Solar Electric Cooperative.

Manufacturer’s Warranty

Manufacturer warranties may apply to defective equipment, and may or may not cover part or all of the labor costs associated with the repair. California Solar Electric Cooperative will pursue warranty claims on our customer’s behalf, obtaining the maximum reimbursements from the manufacturer.

Hourly labor charges, including for time spent onsite or offsite pursuing warranty claims, handling material logistics and performing repairs, that are not wholly covered by manufacturer labor reimbursement, will be billed to the homeowner
